What is Coople's strike policy?

Take our strike policy into consideration if you've been hired and need to cancel your attendance.

We understand that there might be times when you can't come to a job you’ve been hired for. At the same time, we need to protect companies from last-minute cancellations and no-shows. This is why we have a strike system that allows you to cancel jobs without penalties within a reasonable timeframe.

How the strike system works:

No strikes

1 strike

2 strikes

3 strikes

Cancel shift more than 3 days before the start time.

Cancel shift less than 3 days before the start time.

Cancel shift less than 24 hours before the start time.

Cancel shift less than 2 hours before the start time.

You will get more strikes the closer you cancel to the start time. After your 3rd strike, we will suspend your account.

Reasons why we have to suspend your account in line with our policies:

  • We will suspend your account when you get 3 strikes

  • We will suspend your account if you do a no-show (you don't cancel your shift and don’t turn up to work)

  • We will suspend your account whilst investigating allegations of gross misconduct. If we have evidence supporting such allegations, we will have to suspend your account indefinitely.

Launch an appeal if you think we need to consider your case

You have five days to launch an appeal from the moment you receive a strike or have your account cancelled. Learn how you can launch an appeal if you think we need to consider special circumstances.

Work 8 shifts in a row to get strikes removed

You can still apply for jobs if you have less than 3 strikes. We recommend you apply for new jobs now. We will remove one of them when you work 8 shifts in a row, without being late.

Check your strikes

  1. Open the Coople Jobs App.

  2. Tap on Account.

  3. If you have at least one strike, it will be visible right at the top of your screen below your name.

  4. Tap on the strike section for more detailed information.

From here you can view your progress to get strikes removed or launch an appeal if you think there are reasons why we should reconsider our decision.

Cancel a job

  1. Open the Coople Jobs App

  2. Tap on My jobs (briefcase icon)

  3. Select the relevant job

  4. Tap on I can’t attend

  5. Select one or all shifts

  6. Review whether you will get any strikes

  7. Tap Proceed if you’re sure you want to cancel

  8. Select a reason for cancelling, then tap "Yes I'm sure"

While we understand there are valid reasons to cancel, try not to do this often. If you cancel multiple times, they might not want to hire you again. You’re also putting yourself at risk of getting strikes or suspending your account.

The best thing to do is to make sure you understand all the job details before you apply. If you are no longer interested in a job you have applied for or have other commitments on the day your job starts, withdraw your application before you're hired.

In summary:

  • If you cancel a job before you’re hired, we won’t penalise you.

  • If you cancel a job after you’ve been hired, you need to give us more than 3 days' notice to avoid getting strikes.

  • If you cancel with less than 3 days' notice, we will add strikes to your account. You'll get more strikes the closer you cancel to the start time. We do this to prevent late cancellations that don't give us or our customers enough time to find a replacement.

  • If you get 3 strikes, we will suspend your account. If you don’t show up for work, we’ll suspend your account immediately.

  • We will also suspend your account while we investigate accusations of gross misconduct.
