Understanding the new star rating system

On June 1, we’re updating our star rating system to make ratings clearer, fairer and easier to understand for everyone using Coople.

Written by Jenny Petrini

This update changes how ratings are displayed, but it does not reduce your previous ratings or change your standing on the platform.

What’s changing

We’re moving to a new 5-star rating scale.

Your existing ratings will be updated with a simple +1 formula and will be migrated into the new scale.

This means:

  • if you previously had 3 stars, this will now show as 4 stars

  • if you previously had 4 stars, this will now show as 5 stars

  • and so on

Nothing is being removed or reset. We’re simply updating how ratings are displayed.

What the new 5-star rating scale looks like

This is the new 5-star rating scale companies will use when rating you:

What this means for you

A 4-star rating is still a strong and positive rating. It means you fully met the client’s requirements and therefore is not eligible for dispute. A 5-star rating means the client felt your performance was exceptional and went above and beyond.

The new scale gives companies more room to distinguish between strong performance and truly exceptional performance. That makes ratings more meaningful and easier to understand over time.

FAQ

Has my rating gone down?

No. Your existing rating has not been reduced. It has simply been moved into the new 5-star display.

Why does my rating look different now?

We’ve updated the way ratings are displayed. For example, a previous 4-star rating now shows as 5 stars.

Does this affect my standing on the app?

No. Your standing on the app has not changed. This update only changes how ratings are displayed.

Is 4 stars now bad?

No. A 4-star rating is still a strong and positive result. It means you fully met the client’s requirements. That’s why ratings of 4 can’t be disputed.

Why did Coople change the rating system?

We made this change to make ratings clearer, fairer and easier to understand. The new scale gives clients more room to distinguish between meeting expectations and delivering something exceptional.
