Cancelling a shift

Sometimes plans change and you need to cancel a shift you've already filled. How you do it – and whether any cost applies – depends on whether the worker is a Coopler or one of your internal workers.

If you are on Coople Classic, you can find relevant articles here.

Cancelling a Coopler's shift

You can cancel a Coopler from a shift right on the platform:

  1. Go to the shift, click the three dots next to it, and choose Cancel.

  2. In the shift overview, choose the shifts you want to cancel and click Cancel.

  3. You will see a cancellation overview page. If you are cancelling outside the notice period, the Coopler is still entitled to be paid for these shifts. The platform will summarize the cancellation costs here (if any).

  4. Give the reason for the cancellation.

  5. Click Cancel.

A normal cancellation request will be handled automatically by the platform and you will receive a cancellation confirmation. If you have reported misconduct as cancellation reason, Coople's customer service will first investigate the case before processing the cancellation and will inform you about the outcome.

When your cancellation takes effect

If you cancel by 16:00 on Monday to Saturday, the cancellation takes effect from the next working day, meaning that the notice period starts on the next working day. If you submit it after 16:00, it takes effect one working day later than that. This applies the same way regardless of the reason – whether it's handled fully automatically or needs a manual check by Coople (for example, misconduct cases).

  • Example 1: For a termination to be effective on a Friday, you need to cancel the shift on the platform 3 working days before, so by Tuesday, 16:00, at the latest.

  • Example 2: For a termination to be effective on a Tuesday, you need to cancel the shift on the platform 3 working days before, so by Friday at 16:00 the week prior. The 2 full working days in this case are Saturday and Monday.

Cancelling an internal worker's shift

For your own internal workers, you simply remove them from the shift in the Planner. There's no cancellation request, no fee, and no change to their employment – it just takes them off that shift.

Withdrawing an offer

If you only offered a shift to someone and they haven't accepted it yet, withdraw the offer instead. Nothing was confirmed, so there's no cost.

Notice periods and costs

Cancellations follow the notice periods from the CBA Staff Leasing, based on how long the assignment has already been running:

  • During the first 3 months: 2 full working days (generally, Monday to Saturday)

  • From the 4th to (and including) the 6th month: 7 calendar days

  • From the 7th month: 1 month, to the same day of the following month

If you cancel a shift later than the notice period allows, the wage for the notice period is still due. When you submit a cancellation, the platform shows you the applicable cancellation cost before you confirm – so there are no surprises.

What happens to the shift

If the Coopler was scheduled from an open shift, that shift automatically reopens after cancellation so you can find a replacement and hire from new applicants. If they were scheduled directly (not via an open shift), nothing reopens and no replacement search happens.
