If you have more than one job: The maximum limits in this article apply to all your jobs combined, i.e. all hours worked for different employers are added together.
Maximum working time per day: 12.5 hours (within a 14-hour window, excluding breaks)
Maximum working time per week: 45 or 50 hours, depending on the sector (Art. 9 ArG)
Standard working hours for a 100% (full-time) position: 42 hours per week (Art. 12 CLA for Staff Leasing)
Daily rest period: at least 11 consecutive hours (Art. 15a ArG)
Rest days: One day off per week, usually Sunday, or alternatively a full weekday. In addition, as a rule, at least one full Sunday off within every 2 weeks (exceptions are possible depending on the shift pattern and area of work)
The Swiss Labour Act (ArG) protects your health by setting limits on working and rest times. These limits apply to all your paid work, i.e. all your jobs combined, not just your assignments through Coople.
Do you also work somewhere else?
If so, you should keep track of your total working hours. The legal limits apply to your combined working time across all employers, not separately to each job. As Coople can't see how many hours you work for another employer, unfortunately we can't take these requirements into account for you automatically.
Important: If you have more than one job, make sure your total working time does not exceed the legal maximum working hours and that you observe the required rest periods.
What exactly applies? The legal limits in detail
Maximum working time per day
The period between the start and end of work must not exceed 14 hours within any 24-hour period. This includes breaks, which means you may work a maximum of 12.5 hours per day excluding breaks.
Maximum working time per week
Under Art. 9 of the Labour Act, the maximum legal working time per week is:
45 hours for assignments in industrial companies, and for office staff, technical and other employees, and sales staff in large retail businesses
50 hours for all other assignments.
Rest period between two assignments
You need at least 11 hours of uninterrupted rest between two assignments (Art. 15a ArG). Once a week, this rest period may exceptionally be reduced to 8 hours, provided that it averages out at 11 hours over two weeks.

Please note: Coople can't see your working hours with other employers. This means we can only take the legal working time limits into account for assignments carried out through Coople. If you have several employers, you should keep track of your total working time.
