Posting a shift and an open shift (Coople Business app)

How to create a direct shift for a specific worker, or publish an open shift for Cooplers to apply to, from the Coople Business app.

⚠️ This article is for the new version of the platform ⚠️
If you are on Coople Classic, you can find relevant mobile articles here.

The Coople Business app covers two ways to add a shift: an open shift, which Cooplers can apply to, or a shift assigned directly to one worker. Both start from a job role, which you can also create right from the app – tap the + button in the calendar header and choose Job role. See What are Job Roles, Job Titles, and experience levels? for more information on target requirements of your Cooplers.

Posting an open shift

Tap the + button in the calendar header and choose Open shift. There's also a small + next to a job role's row in the day view, which does the same thing pre-filled with that date – but it only shows up if that role already has a shift or open shift scheduled on that day. If it's the first shift for that role on that day, use the header + instead.

Either way, set:

  • Start and end time of the shift

  • Repeat – pick the weekdays and an end date to create the same shift on several days at once

  • Number of workers you need

  • Venue

  • Visibility – public (any Coopler can apply) or private (restricted to the worker pool(s) you select). Here shown: "Favourites"

  • Candidate profile(s) – if the job role has more than one, narrow the shift to specific ones

  • Shift supervisor (optional)

  • Hourly wage

Posting a shift for a specific worker

Tap the + button in the calendar header and choose Worker shift. In the form, set:

  • Worker – search for and select the person directly

  • Job role

  • Start and end time

  • Hourly wage – must meet the legal minimum for that worker and venue; the app blocks publishing if it's set too low

  • Breaks

  • Venue

  • Shift supervisor (optional)

  • Repeat (same weekday and end-date option as open shifts)

If the worker is a Coopler (external), the shift is sent to them as an offer – you'll see it marked "Offer sent" until they accept, and you can withdraw the offer at any time before they respond.

If it's one of your own internal workers, the shift is scheduled directly, skipping the offer state entirely – no acceptance needed. See Planning internal workers for more on scheduling your own team.

You can also get here directly from an open shift: when you pick a specific worker to hire from the candidate list, the app takes you straight into this same form with the worker, job role, and start time already filled in.

What happens after you save

Saving takes you straight back to the calendar, where the new shift appears with a confirmation – there's no separate draft or review screen like on the web platform.

Good to know

  • The end time always has to be after the start time – the app validates this before you can save.

  • If your account is still being verified and you go over your provisional shift allowance, you'll see a warning – it won't block you from publishing.

  • Recurring shifts work the same way for both open shifts and direct shifts: pick the weekdays and an end date, and every matching day gets its own shift.
