We have a strike system to prevent last-minute cancellations. Make sure you understand it before cancelling a shift.

We understand that there might be times when you can't come to work as planned. At the same time, we need to protect companies from last-minute cancellations and absences. This is why we have a strike system that allows you to cancel without penalties within a reasonable timeframe.

How the strike system works:

No strikes

1 strike

2 strikes

3 strikes

Cancel shift more than 24 hours before the start time.

Cancel shift less than 24 hours before the start time.

Cancel shift less than 8 hours before the start time.

Cancel shift less than 2 hours before the start time.

Account suspension

No longer interested in a job you've applied for? Remove your application

Sometimes companies hire applicants just a few hours before the job starts. To avoid receiving strikes in your account, make sure that you can always work the shifts you're applying for.

If you've applied for a job and haven't been hired yet, but you know you could no longer make it, remove your application. Otherwise, you risk getting strikes and even having your account suspended if the company hires you and you cancel your shift afterwards. Remember that you immediately enter a binding agreement to work when a company hires you.

You can cancel shifts directly via the Coople Jobs app:

  1. Open the Coople Jobs app

  2. Tap Jobs, then find the job you’d like to cancel in Applied or Hired

  3. Open the job

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the screen

  5. Tap I can’t attend

  6. Select the shifts you can’t attend

  7. Tap Proceed

In summary:

  • If you cancel a job before you’re hired, we won’t penalise you.

  • If you cancel a job after you’ve been hired, you need to give us more than a 24-hour notice to avoid getting strikes.

  • If you cancel with less than a 24-hour notice, we will add strikes to your account. You'll get more strikes the closer you cancel to the starting time. We do this to prevent late cancellations that don't give us or our customers enough time to find a replacement.

  • After your third strike, we will suspend your account.

  • If you don’t show up for work and didn't cancel, we will suspend your account immediately.

Important:

If you can no longer attend a job, please don't ever send another person to work in your place, even if they are signed up with Coople. It is against the law to impersonate someone else for work purposes. Every worker must be able to prove their identity at the job site if prompted. Coople carries out random on-site identity checks to ensure everyone's compliance.

Check your strikes

  1. Open the Coople Jobs app.

  2. Tap on Account.

  3. If you have at least one strike, it will be visible right at the top of your screen below your name.

  4. Tap on the strike section for more detailed information.

Start an appeal if you think we need to consider your case

We know there are times when you need to cancel unexpectedly or can't give us enough notice. If you disagree with the strikes you received after a cancellation, you can always launch an appeal so we can reconsider our decision.

You have five days to launch an appeal from the moment you receive a strike. A member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible to review your case.

Work 8 shifts in a row to have a strike removed

You can still apply for jobs if you have fewer than 3 strikes. We recommend that you apply for new jobs. We will remove one of your strikes after you've worked 8 shifts in a row without being late.
