How can I create a shift?

You create an open shift in two steps: first you define a Job Role for the position you want to fill, then you publish matching Open Shifts for it — this is what lets our matching algorithm find the right Cooplers for you.

This process has two steps:

  • Define a Job Role

  • Publish an Open Shift


1. Define a Job Role

A Job Role bundles the title, dress code, and Candidate Profile for a position, and sets the Candidate Profile you're searching for on the platform — you set it up once and reuse it for as many shifts as you need. Click "Add Job Role" in the planner and fill in:

  • Title and short description of the task.

  • Dress code — pick one of the existing clothing styles for the occasion, or put together specific items yourself using "Create Uniform."

  • Additional dress code notes — an optional free-text field for anything else.

  • Candidate Profile — pick the matching Job Title(s) for the role from the dropdown. For certain Job Titles, you can also specify whether you require completed vocational training in that field, or whether the search should extend to untrained staff too.

  • Language level — the language level you'd like applicants to have.

  • Target experience — you can specify a target experience, from no experience up to 5 years in the relevant field.

Language level and target experience aren't binding criteria for applicants. Instead, a percentage matching score shows you how well a given applicant fits what you're looking for on these two dimensions.

Once you're happy with it, save the Job Role. It then appears on the left of your planner, and you can create Open Shifts for the position. To edit a Job Role later, click the three dots next to it and select "Edit."


2. Publish an Open Shift

In the row for your Job Role, go to the day you need and click "Open Shift." In the shift-creation window, set:

  • Start and end time of the shift.

  • Repeat shift — a toggle that lets you set up several shift days up to a given date directly in the calendar, useful for longer engagements.

  • Break times — you can add several breaks, each with its own start time.

  • Number of workers you need for the shift.

  • Shift supervisor — chosen from the users on your account.

  • Venue — pick an existing Venue from the dropdown, or add a new one.

  • Who can apply — pick the right pool: Cooplers across the whole platform, your Favourites pool, or another one of your worker pools. The pool you choose determines who sees your shift.

  • Candidate Profile(s) — the Job Titles saved on your Job Role; you can narrow the shift to just some of them.

  • Hourly wage for the shift.


What happens after you save

Saving takes you to the calendar's draft overview, which shows how many shifts you've created so far and your estimated total cost. You can keep adding shifts — the copy feature (with shortcuts) is handy here. Once your shift planning is complete, click "Publish." All the shifts you created are then posted to the workers you selected.


How this helps find the right Cooplers

Our matching algorithm uses the information from your Job Role (Candidate Profile, language level, target experience) together with the shift details (Venue, hourly wage, times) to suggest the best-suited Cooplers and surface your shift to them.


Good to know

  • You only need to set up a Job Role once — for every further shift in that position, you can start directly at step 2.

  • There's currently no way to auto-generate a job description with AI — you write the title and description yourself.

  • As soon as you enter an hourly wage, you'll see an estimated cost per hour. This is based on the CLA that applies to the job title, wage class, and Venue.

  • While a shift is still unfilled, we show a cost range, since the worker's age and wage class are only known once someone is assigned.
